Tidal Flight and Seaplane Safaris Announce Strategic Collaboration to Advance Sustainable Air Mobility in The Bahamas
Nassau, The Bahamas - Tidal Flight, a leading innovator in regional air mobility, and Seaplane Safaris (Bahamas) Ltd., The Bahamas’ only 100% Bahamian-owned and operated seaplane company, today announced a strategic collaboration to bring cutting-edge seaplane technology and operations to the islands. This collaboration is marked by a Letter of Intent (LOI) between Tidal and Seaplane Safaris regarding the introduction of 5 Polaris Amphibian hybrid-electric aircraft to Seaplane Safaris’ fleet, valued at over 30 million USD.
This partnership combines Tidal Flight’s expertise in advanced seaplane systems and sustainable aviation solutions with Seaplane Safaris’ on-the-ground operational experience, local knowledge, and proven record of safe luxury seaplane services throughout the archipelago. Tidal’s Polaris aircraft is a modern, clean-sheet, hybrid-electric seaplane that can bring 9-12 passengers with baggage to destinations across the Bahamas with low noise, low emissions, and without requiring expensive and destructive runway or vertiport buildout. “The affordability and low environmental impact of operations with Tidal’s Polaris aircraft will support The Bahamas’ long-term goals of sustainable tourism growth, enhanced inter-island connectivity, and the development of new aviation opportunities that benefit both visitors and Bahamian communities”, said JP Roberts, Founder & CEO of Seaplane Safaris.
The collaboration will include joint demonstrations, community engagement with Bahamian officials and stakeholders, and a shared vision for expanding seaplane infrastructure and services across the Out Islands. “As part of our National Aviation Strategic Plan, The Bahamas continues to position itself among the global leaders in sustainable aviation best practices, while showcasing how innovation, environmental stewardship and strategic partnerships with stakeholders like Seaplane Safaris, can drive tourism, economic growth, and community connectivity,” said Director of Aviation and Deputy Director General of Tourism, Dr. Kenneth Romer.
Both companies are committed to safety, sustainability, and economic growth, ensuring that this initiative directly supports local communities, tourism, and The Bahamas’ international reputation as a premier travel destination. “We want to make sure our aircraft brings real value to coastal communities worldwide, which is why it is so important to us to work with Bahamian partners like the team at Seaplane Safaris to understand the needs of the communities we serve as we build our aircraft”, said Jude Augustine, Co-Founder & CEO of Tidal Flight. Demonstrating Polaris’ reach in coastal communities worldwide, Tidal has received 11 LOIs from seaplane and commuter airlines across 8 countries representing more than 140 aircraft and $900 million USD in orders.
“Seaplane Safaris is proud to partner with Tidal Flight to showcase what’s possible when innovation and local expertise come together,” said Roberts. “As a 100% Bahamian company, our mission has always been to connect our islands in a safe, luxurious, and environmentally responsible way. This collaboration strengthens our ability to deliver on that mission.”
